This paper is the result of research conducted to identify a culture of peace within the Sudanese context. The first part contains an introduction on the war situation and its horrific effects. It also considers the transfer of conflict from a destructive outcome to a constructive one. The paper also discusses peace building and the framework in which it can be achieved. The second part of the paper focuses on the concept of culture of peace and how to transfer from a culture of war to a culture of peace and what this transformation entails from educational, cultural and social activities, because a culture of peace begins in the heart. The paper goes on to show UNESCO's activities in spreading a culture of peace which started in 1994 with the objective of finding a suitable climate for peace. Choosing both formal and informal means of education as endeavors for achieving peace, in schools and civil society enacted by the family society and also mass media. All these institutions play an important and vital role in transforming beliefs, values and attitudes in order to achieve social change.
